No need for a surprise when your water bill arrives

Published: 01 Nov 2022

WILL your water bill be a shock this week?

Water bills for the reading period from March to August 2022 will begin arriving in letterboxes from November 7.

During this period, 655mm of rain fell in our region, and consumption was up eight per cent compared to the same billing period last year.

Mackay region residents can easily avoid a nasty shock when their water bills arrive by signing up to council’s free myh2o website.

As well as alerting you to leaks, the myh2o website shows you how much water you’re using each day, how much it’s costing you and how you can put plans in place to save.

Residents can also set water consumption targets and if you go over you are sent a message via email or SMS.

The website is available for homeowners, tenants and commercial properties.

Residents are also reminded of council’s permanent water conservation measures which ask residents to only water their gardens on alternate days – even numbered properties on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, odd or unnumbered properties on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and no watering at all on Mondays.

Residents are also asked to only water before 10am and after 4pm on their allocated days.

This round of water bill notices is due for payment on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact council on 1300 MACKAY (622 529) to discuss payment plan options.
