Platypus Beach closed
As of this afternoon (February 15), Mackay Regional Council has closed Platypus Beach.
In the interest of public health concerns, council is conducting water sample collection and testing as a matter of priority.
Residents are reminded that Platypus Beach is a natural watercourse where water quality can fluctuate and is not suitable for human consumption.
Council will advise when the area has been reopened to the public for recreational purposes.
