Posts to be removed from Bucasia Beach

Published: 10 Sep 2019

Council will be removing the Bucasia Beach swimming enclosure posts today.

The removal is in response to the continual degradation of the remains of the swimming enclosure.

Council had previously decided it was not feasible to reinstate the structure after it was damaged beyond repair by Cyclone Dylan in 2014.

Instead, council decided in 2018 to establish lifeguard patrols on Bucasia Beach. Council has committed to continue lifeguard patrols on Bucasia Beach during the 2019-20 financial year.

Motorists are advised that Williams Avenue and the beach access car park will only be open to local traffic during the removal of the posts.

Residents are advised to avoid the area where possible and follow the directions of safety signage and traffic controllers.
