Practise pool safety this Australia Day

Published: 23 Jan 2019

With Australia Day fast approaching, council is reminding residents to practise pool safety.

It is Queensland Government legislation that all pools in Queensland that are 300mm or more in depth, hold more than 2000 litres or more of water or have an installed pool filter, including spas and portable pools, have a compliant fence and the appropriate approvals.

Drowning is a leading cause of death in children aged five years and under.

Compliant pool barriers help save lives by preventing young children from accessing swimming pools, portable pools and spas.

Please comply before you buy by ensuring you have appropriate fencing and approvals before purchasing or erecting all portable pools, blow-up pools or spas that apply to the legislation.
