Register your Festival Sessions party to #Supportlocal

Published: 04 Aug 2020

Mackay Festival Sessions is all about supporting locals – local performers, artists and businesses.

With this in mind, organisers are offering home-viewers the chance to win some amazing prizes from local businesses.

Festival emcee Mayor Greg Williamson said going in the prize draw was simple – all viewers had to do was register their house party on the MECC website.

“Prizes include nibbles platters, family meals, an Avaia Hair makeover package, an amazing ‘Mackay Makers Basket’ and a $150 fresh market voucher for the Greater Whitsunday Farmers Market,” Cr Williamson said.

“The Mackay Makers Basket is a tremendous prize – it contains lots of crafty products from locals like Porters, Unwined Candle Co, Stomping Elephants, Dee & Co and the Artspace Gift Shop,” he said.

“To register, simply head to mackay.qld.gov.au/supportlocal, enter your details, tell us what you have planned for your Festival Sessions house party and how you are supporting local businesses during the pandemic.”

Mackay Festival Sessions will take place over four consecutive Saturday evenings, starting August 8.

Audiences will be able to stream the cream of the Mackay region’s live musical scene, including 2019 Queensland Album of the Year winner Tia Gostelow.

This innovative, multiformat entertainment package will also feature a live visual artist creating an artwork from start to finish and local dancers bursting out of quarantine to showcase their moves.

Council has partnered with local radio stations HIT FM, Star FM, Triple M, 4MK and ABC Tropical North to ensure that whoever you follow on Facebook will be streaming this exciting event.

For more information and a complete line-up of acts, follow @MackayFestivals on Facebook or head to the MECC website.

Festival Sessions kicks off this Saturday night from 6pm with the classically futuristic, slinky upbeat pop-electronica of DJ Clovr and the super fresh, four-piece indie rock/pop band Headlights.

Listen out for Headlights’ initial release Heidi, which has racked up over 50,000 listens on Spotify.

Mackay Festivals also have a Digital Media Analysis package to give away valued at $350 from Cherrie Hughes Social Media and Photography.  To win, you must be a musician or performer and be registered at https://bit.ly/30begfB
