Sarina hosts Noah’s Ark, Santa and Jay and Dave

Santa will ride into the village of Bethlehem on a rural fire engine this weekend in what has become a typical Sarina Christmas celebration.

Complete with inn, shepherds, wise men and nativity – and a five-foot Noah’s Ark – the Sarina Community Christmas Celebration, held this Saturday (December 7), is always a great evening.

The event will run from 5pm to 8.30pm and will culminate with a visit from Santa riding on an Armstrong Beach Rural Fire Brigade truck.

Attendees are encouraged to get into the Christmas spirit and come dressed as a villager of Bethlehem.

Cr Martin Bella will be at the celebration to light the Sarina town Christmas tree.

He said the Sarina community, Combined Churches of Sarina and the team at the Neighbourhood Centre had put in a lot of work to make this family-friendly event such a success.

“As far as Christmas celebrations go, it’s got it all,” Cr Bella said.

“The Sarina Sings Community Choir will be there singing Christmas carols, Jay and Dave from Triple M are coming down to emcee, there’s free face painting, basket weaving, a colouring competition for the kids and a sausage sizzle,” he said.

“They’ve got a stack of hamper prize packs to give away and I hear Santa has enough lollies to keep the kids bouncing off the walls until the new year.”

The event is an initiative of council, the Combined Churches of Sarina and the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre and is proudly sponsored by the Scripture Union and Queensland Government.
