Sarina Neighbourhood Centre experiences unexpected closure

Published: 18 Mar 2022

A Routine carpet relay at the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre has resulted in an unexpected temporary closure after asbestos underlay was found under the existing carpet.

With the health and safety of staff and centre users being the main priority, council has closed the facility until Monday, April 4, to allow for safe disposal of any hazardous materials.

During the closure, Sarina Neighbourhood Centre officer Nikki Hughes will be located at council’s administration building at 65 Broad Street.

If you would like to meet with her, please ask for her at the reception desk.

Even though the Neighbourhood Centre is closed, appointments for Emergency Relief can be made by calling 4961 9290.

Emergency Relief will only be offered on Mondays between the hours of 9.30am to noon from the Bob Wood Cultural Hall.

If you need to access a regular service, program or meeting in the centre during the closure period, please call the team on 4961 9290 and they will be able to advise what temporary arrangements are in place.

Council apologises for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause.
