Small scale placemaking projects wanted for Mackay City and Waterfront

Published: 30 Mar 2022

Council's Activate My Place (AMP!) program is offering micro-grants to smaller-scale placemaking projects that reimagine and reinvent public spaces.

The AMP! micro-grant program will fund up to 100 per cent of a project’s budget, up to a maximum of $1000.

Placemaking refers to a collaborative process by which communities shape their public spaces, and in doing so, strengthen the connection between the people and the places they share.

This can be achieved by delivering projects and/or initiatives such as:

  • pop-up installations
  • street libraries
  • guerrilla greening
  • performances
  • busking festivals
  • pop-up cinema
  • paint and sip classes
  • long table community lunches/dinners
  • small scale arts
  • cultural initiatives.

Applications must be submitted online via SmartyGrants – mackay.smartygrants.com.au.

Interested applicants are encouraged to chat with council’s Mackay City and Waterfront team for more information and/or support with their application.

Simply email mackaywaterfront@mackay.qld.gov.au or call 1300 MACKAY (622 529).

Guidelines around the grants can be viewed at mackay.qld.gov.au/microgrant. Grant funds are awarded on a competitive basis and are evaluated against assessment criteria.

Applications close Monday, May 2.
