There’s plenty to do around Mackay this week with a new wellbeing exercise program for parents of young children, the reopening of the Bluewater Lagoon and exciting new events coming to Mackay involving putt-putt golf for young and old and fairy tale characters performing on ice.

1) Healthier Parents Program

Join a free child-friendly weekly exercise program. Meet other parents for morning tea and weekly guest speakers focused on improving the overall wellbeing of parents in the first 1000 days. Session 1 (Tuesday) involves low intensity activity with Shannon Smith (Pilates Instincts). Session 2 (Wednesday) involves high intensity low impact exercises with Lauren Neill (Women’s Health Physio Mackay). Attend one or both sessions each week up until Wednesday, October 12. 5) Guided Walks in the Gardens

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens
Enjoy getting outdoors and the magnificent spring weather by discovering the gardens with one of their guides as they take you on a free guided walk through the grounds. There is always something new to discover with what’s flowering, local wildlife and the history of the gardens. Bookings are essential as places are limited. 6) Conversations with Art

A free and enjoyable discussion led by Artspace staff as they look at images of traditional and contemporary artworks. Not a theory lesson, but simply a casual conversation to talk about the art, deconstructing the works, considering themes, possible techniques used by the artist, and creating links with your own personal experiences. 7) Pixar Putt

Friday, September 16 to Sunday, October 9

This open-air mini golf sensation is made up of interactive putt-putt holes inspired by the stories, characters, and icons from some of Pixar’s most beloved films including Toy Story, Cars, Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, Luca, plus many more! There will also be 'Pixar Putt After Dark' sessions available for adults 18+ on Thursday to Saturday nights from 7pm, which will include a licenced bar. Book tickets.

8) Bluewater Lagoon Reopens

From Saturday, September 17, 9am to 5.45pm daily
Bluewater Lagoon, River Street, Mackay
Winter maintenance has been completed in time for school holidays and the warmer weather! Grab your togs, sunscreen, towel and the kids and head down to the Bluewater Lagoon. The free facility provides loads of fun for the whole family with a three-tiered lagoon, waterfall, slide, all-abilities waterplay area, barbecues and café. 9) International Dance Affair presents “A World of Imagination”
