There’s plenty to see and do in the Mackay region this week! Check out a new art exhibition at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, learn a new instrument at the library, enjoy a free guided public art walk through the city centre, or see Creedence Clearwater Collective as they walkthrough the life and music of one of the world’s most iconic bands at the MECC

1) Art Whitsunday Inc. exhibition ‘Whitsunday Wildlife’

Lagoons Gallery, Botanic Gardens Cafe
"Whitsunday Wildlife" is a collaborative exhibition by members of Art Whitsunday Inc.This exhibition features original artworks which highlight the broad theme of wildlife in theWhitsunday region. The exhibition will be on display at the Lagoons Gallery, within the Botanic Gardens Café during opening hours, until Sunday, December 4.

2) Healthier Parents Program – Activate Mackay Region

Wednesdays from 9.30am
Andergrove Hall
Following the success of the recent pilot program and overwhelming interest, the Healthier Parents program has become part of Activate Mackay Region and will continue to be conducted at the Andergrove Hall by Lauren Neill of Women’s Health Physio Mackay. The subsidised class is part of Activate Mackay Region at a cost of $5 paid directly to the service provider. To find out more about these classes, visit council’s website.

3) Music at the Library

Enjoy entry level programs for beginners to advanced. A number of instruments are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own. Each of the classes offer a different experience.

4) Harvest Music Development Program Workshops

Wednesday, November 2 and Thursday, November 3
Various times and locations
The Harvest program provides the opportunity for local emerging and established performers and music industry practitioners to develop, extend on and improve their professional industry skills through a range of free workshops being held at various locations in. There are four workshops on this week covering venue development, setting up a live gig, recording fundamentals and setting up a concert for a venue. Each workshop is led by experts in their field. 6) Friday Guided Walks

7) Public Art Walk

Friday, November 4, 4.30pm to 5.30pm
Departing Artspace Mackay, Gordon Street
Hosted by Artspace Mackay Director Tracey Heathwood, the free city art walk for all ages begins at Artspace Mackay and takes you through the city centre. Along the way, participants will learn about Mackay’s iconic public art installations, and the local, and internationally acclaimed artists who created them. Bring a hat, comfortable shoes and water. 8) Carter Entertainment presents Creedence Clearwater Collective

MECC Auditorium
Join in the celebration of Creedence Clearwater Revival, as we walk through the life and music of one of the world’s most iconic bands – from the songs they wrote, to the songs covered, to the songs they wrote for others. The Creedence Clearwater Collective brings to the stage a six-piece band – with a guest Saxophonist and a vocalist that emulates John Fogerty’s distinct vocals – to capture the unique CCR sound.
