There is plenty to do around the region this week… A Taste of Ireland explores magical tales spanning generations told through Irish music and dance, the MECC will be overflowing with exciting hands-on science exhibits when the Science Circus and their colourful semi-trailer roll into town and check out #MackayPride on display at the Mackay Show next week including the 20 metre long mobile library and the centrepiece of this year’s display: ‘find yourself in a park’ attraction.

3) A Taste of Ireland – The Irish Music and Dance Sensation

Thursday, June 13, 7.30pm
MECC Auditorium

Told through Irish music and dance, A Taste of Ireland explores magical tales spanning generations of Irish storytelling and culture.  This world-class show features world, all Ireland and national champion Irish dancers, and musicians from around the globe performing unique music and dance that reflects the story that is, Ireland. Melodic Celtic flute, alongside raw and rhythmic guitar evoke the heart-felt sounds of Ireland.

A community night market showcasing local food, farmers and artisan makers. The River Street Twilight Markets provides a beautiful riverside experience for families, couples and singles. 5) Shell Questacon Science Circus

Spin yourself until you’re dizzy, compare your reflexes to a Formula 1 driver and see your fingertips under the microscope with the Shell Questacon Science Circus! The MECC will be overflowing with exciting hands-on science exhibits when the Science Circus and their colourful semi-trailer roll into town for an exhibition of their ‘pop-up’ science centre. Visitors of all ages can enjoy over 40 interactive science exhibits and watch spectacular science shows as Science Circus presenters stand on light globes, lie on a bed of nails and levitate beach balls.

6) Robertson Brothers ‘60s Variety Show’

Relive the good old days with The Robertson Brothers ‘60s Variety Show’ featuring direct from the hit musical Jersey Boys, Simon Brook McLachlan. An amazing interactive live Variety TV style show, featuring hits from The Everly Brothers, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, The Bee Gees and The Hollies. Take a trip down memory lane with hit after hit that will have you singing, dancing, laughing and crying!

7) Mackay Region Show - #MackayPride on display

The display will include heaps of giveaways and prizes, including a Cowboys Experience package. One of the new additions to this year's display is the impressive 20 metre long mobile library. Packed full of library books and information, the mobile library is likely to be a regular feature each year at the Mackay Show. The centrepiece of this year's display is the Park and Environment 'find yourself in a park' attraction. This area will include interactive get-active, recreation and relaxation areas with a mountain bike to be won!

8) Resin-ate

Tuesday, June 18, 3.30pm to 5.30pm  
Gordon White Library

Jewellery and arty items made from shells, botanicals, odd earings or anything you fancy. We will be using epoxy resin to set the items and create personal keepsakes or gifts. 9) Toni Childs Retrospective

Wednesday, June 19, 7.30pm  
MECC Auditorium

Join the legendary Toni Childs for a special two hour performance as she celebrates her 30 year anniversary of Union. Toni will be performing hits and fan favourites from Union, House of Hope, the Woman’s Boat and Keep the Faith. The second hour will be your introduction to Toni’s new music from two very special albums It’s All a Beautiful Noise and Citizens of the Planet.
