Weekend work starts at Lamberts Beach

Published: 01 Mar 2019

Work is progressing at Lamberts Beach and weekend work will start from tomorrow (March 2).

The entire 590-metre beach is currently undergoing sand nourishment, with 70,000 tonnes of sand being brought in to rebuild the area.

This project will help protect beach properties from erosion, restore important turtle nesting habitat and improve the general aesthetics of the area. The work also includes fencing and revegetation works.

Recent wet weather has caused some delays to the project and contractors will begin working on Saturdays from 7am to 1pm to ensure the project is completed within the original timeframes.

Beach reprofiling is expected to be completed by early June, weather permitting.

This $2.7m project is funded by the Queensland Government ($1.73m), and through the Commonwealth and state-funded Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements ($950,000).
