Will I receive all documents I have requested?

Council will undertake a search for all documents as per your request and will assess them against provisions under the RTI Act and/or IP Act. Some documents (or part of documents) may contain information which cannot be released due to exceptions (i.e. such as legal advice) or because release of the information would be contrary to the public interest (e.g. someone's personal information or commercially sensitive information).

If there are documents with information which cannot be released, council uses software to remove the information securely from the released document, clearly showing the reason why information has been removed. You will also receive a decision letter which will explain what (if any) information has been removed and reasons why.
