Setting up a business
Our region's businesses play a pivotal role in employment, population growth and long-term sustainability.
Council is committed to supporting the growth of local business and the investment of new business opportunities.
Council has a ‘First Point of Contact’ officer who will work with you to facilitate access to the relevant areas of local and state government and to look at support options from project inception to completion.
If you would like to discuss your business investment or expansion, please contact Council's ‘First Point of Contact’ on business@mackay.qld.gov.au or call 1300 MACKAY (622 529).

Local Laws
Council is responsible for the enforcement of local laws that are necessary for the regulation of a broad range of issues within the community.
Some local laws require individuals of business activities to obtain a permit or license to operate. Examples of this include accommodation activities, caravan parks, entertainment venues, food businesses, personal appearance services and mobile vendors.
Further information regarding council Local Laws can be found here.
Going in to business with council
