Council is exploring opportunities to redevelop the Mackay waterfront areas with the view of creating a vibrant, active, memorable and exciting space.
Redeveloping the Pioneer River and Binnington Esplanade waterfronts has the potential to transform the tourism and liveability aspects of the region, strengthen and diversify the regional and Queensland economies, revitalise the Mackay City Centre and create new job opportunities.
Although the project is only in the early stages of planning, the community’s feedback received during the May-July 2017 consultation will help to shape to how these areas could be redeveloped. Council will now analyse the survey responses and feedback and come up with a plan to put to the State Government.
