Grant opportunities

Council is offering four exciting grants for businesses and individuals to help energise and connect our region.

Applications are now open for funding to support projects that make our region a more vibrant, safe and engaging place.

From city safety to building façade improvement and placemaking and project activation, there’s something for everyone.

Mackay City and Waterfront grants

> City Safety Grant (CLOSED)

Commercial businesses and incorporated bodies can now apply for funding to assist them create a safer public environment in our City Centre.

The City Safety Grant aims to deliver safety infrastructure with the Mackay city, helping to improve the late-night economy as well as community safety.

> Make Your Place Mackay Waterfront Placemaking Grant (CLOSED)

The Make Your Place Grant aims to create more engaging places in our city by helping people to create inspiring and inclusive projects.

The grants will support initiatives that improve physical health, mental wellbeing and community cohesion, celebrate and promote art, culture, creativity and local history and reimagine and reinvent everyday public spaces.

Economic Development and Tourism grants

> Façade Improvement Grant

Businesses have the chance to breathe new life into their building facades and enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.

The Façade Improvement Grant supports quality facade improvement works and is a collaborative effort between council and local property owners and business operators.

> Activate My Place! Placemaking Grants

Residents with the vision or passion to transform public spaces and bring communities together can apply for an Activate My Place! (AMP!) Placemaking Grant.

The AMP! program is about turning public spaces into captivating hubs – whether it is an art installation that inspires wonder, a communal space that fosters togetherness or an initiative that celebrates our cultural heritage.
