Free Get-Active Programs

It’s time to step up Mackay and get moving. There’s no better time to get-active than now, with our new and improved get-active programs.

Due to the success of Active in the City, our get-active programs have now been expanded to include an Active in the Region program, with new sessions in the City Centre and sessions coming soon for Sarina and Northern Beaches.

So, what are you waiting for? Join in the fun at one of the free sessions below and take your first step to a new you!

Note - this program is only available to people over 18 years of age.

Active in the City

There are plenty of ways to get Active in the City! From Zumba, Tai Chi, and aqua fitness to boxing, cross training, and yoga, our Active in the City program is a great way to get fit and meet new friends.

An initiative of Mackay Regional Council, this ever-changing program provides a range of exciting physical activities and is free of charge.

All activities cater for varying levels of fitness and ability and are suitable for beginners.

Live Life Get Active - City Centre

The Live Life Get Active program offers FREE weekly sessions in boxing, cross training and yoga in the City Centre and is available from February 11 to June 26. For a full list of locations and times and to register for your free session/s, visit the Live Life Get Active website.

  • Council Lawns, Civic Precinct, 6am to 6.45am, February 11 to May 20 (Mondays and Wednesdays are cross training, Tuesdays and Thursdays boxing and Fridays yoga)
  • Iluka Park, 6am - 6.45am, May 21 to June 5 (Mondays and Wednesdays are cross training, Tuesdays and Thursdays boxing and Fridays yoga)
  • Council Lawns, Civic Precinct, 6am to 6.45am, June 8 to June 26. (Mondays and Wednesdays are cross training, Tuesdays and Thursdays boxing and Fridays yoga)
