Andergrove
Heading north just across the Mackay Harbour Railway Line, Andergrove has three State schools, two private schools, parks/playing fields, a small shopping strip, a new Woolworths supermarket and a community centre.
Steady development has been quietly taking place since the mid-1990s. The result is a suburb best characterised by its low-set, low-maintenance, brick-and-tile homes and streets that are brimming with kids.
Newer estates include Eaglemount Heights (off Broomdykes Dr) and the Kimberley Estate (off Trout Ave), which both have elevated positions. Although development began soon after the year 2000, the building of new homes continues today.
