Finch Hatton
Finch Hatton is a rural town, located 60 km west of Mackay and is part of the picturesque Pioneer Valley.
The township provides some wonderful bushwalking experiences and is the gateway to Eungella National Park and the nearby Finch Hatton Gorge and waterfalls.
There is a general store, a museum in the former railway station (the line has gradually closed from 1977), a showground, the Criterion Hotel, a caravan park and a primary school. The railway station (1904) is an intact, decorative timber building, positioned in the main street and maintained by council. It is near the war memorial (1921), also well cared for, and both are listed on the Queensland heritage register.
