Town Beach is the closest of Mackay’s 31 beaches to the city and is popular with locals for both active and passive recreation activities including walking, fishing and kite boarding. It is also a key feature of the Bluewater Trail.

Development in the Beachside precinct will support a new and vibrant beachside destination along the Binnington Esplanade and within walking distance to the heart of the City Centre. The concept for the redevelopment of beachside is to provide an enhanced waterfront edge boasting expansive ocean views and generous open spaces.  The precinct will accommodate a diverse mix of uses including high density residential, accommodation, tourism, and recreational activities to activate and take advantage of the waterfront locality.

The ultimate design features extensive, engaging, and accessible public realm which will be characterised by a safe, generous and comfortable multi-functional public promenade, associated public spaces and community infrastructure.
