The City Safety Grant provides commercial businesses and incorporated bodies funding to improve the late-night economy, community safety and connectivity around licenced venues and surrounding areas within the City Centre.
The grant seeks to:
- Assist licenced venues and businesses to create safer public environments
- Decrease instances of risky or offensive behaviour or violence
- Increase opportunities for CCTV and surveillance in key locations
- Encourage patrons not to congregate on public streets late at night
- Create a safer night-time environment for all patrons
- Reduce late-night drug and alcohol related violence
Applications will be accepted from commercial properties or incorporated bodies within the Mackay Safe Night Precinct Boundary as determined by the Queensland Government.
The City Safety Grants will offer grants to eligible applicants under the following categories:
- works up to and including $500 (ex. GST) 100% funding available (ex. GST) of the total project spend, per commercial property
- works above $501 (ex GST) 50% co-contribution funding available (ex. GST) of the total project spend, up to a total value of $3000, per commercial property.
Applications are open from Thursday, August 1 and close Thursday, September 12.
