The Sydney and River Street intersection upgrade is one of our shovel ready projects which is an important priority for the Mackay Waterfront.  The upgrade will provide an essential improved point of connection between the City Centre and Riverside precincts. The project is necessary to provide an enhanced pedestrian and cycling link that will significantly improve amenity and safety in the location.  The scope of works includes incorporating wider footpaths, improved lighting, landscaping, and reduced intersection wait times.

Council is continuing to work with the Department of Transport and Main Roads on funding opportunities.
