Sarina Town Centre

Originally known as Plane Creek, Sarina was renamed by William Charles Borlase Wilson, a surveyor, some time before 1896. Sarina was named after the Sarina Inlet which was in turn named from the Greek mythological enchantress Sarina.

Sarina's town centre is a blend of natural country charm and developed thriving business area which features a hospital, schools, library, visitor information centre and sporting facilities. The Sarina community pool is a great spot to enjoy a cool off during the warm tropical months.

You won’t be stuck trying to find a bite to eat in Sarina, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs showcasing a diverse range of culinary treats. Whether you fancy a famous Sarina pie or a counter lunch, you will not be disappointed.

Keep an eye out for a large cane toad statue located in the middle of the township, in-between the north and south-bound lanes of the Bruce Highway. His scientific name is Bufo Marinus, but the locals have nicknamed him “Buffy”. Originally crafted out of paper mache in 1983 to become a float for a sugar festival, Buffy was later cast in fibreglass to become a fixture in the town, in recognition of Sarina's cane farming history.

If you are traveling with your furry friends, there is an off-leash park located a short walk away from the town centre. The 900m2 area is the perfect place to let your furry friends roam off-leash and meet some new friends. The park is located in Apex Park and is available to use 24/7.
