What was once a tired and undesirable laneway, is now Australia’s Best Street Art Laneway after recently taking out the GOLD gong in the 2021 Australian Street Art Awards. Notice something different and discover quirky characters each time you walk through as artworks themed by Mackay’s nature and wildlife are hidden high and low.

The Fifth Lane Street art transformation was completed in 2019 by 16 dedicated and talented local artists and five amazing visiting artists from across Queensland and Australia. In 2021, the Laneway was further revitalised with the installation of a new concrete pavement and festoon lighting
