Our grant programs aim to support local community groups and organisations that enhance the quality of life in our local government area.

Community Impact Grant

  • Overview: Supports projects that engage or connect residents, contributing to a safe, creative, inclusive, cultural, healthy, and connected community.
  • Maximum grant amount: $10,000 (excluding GST)
  • Application deadlines: First Sunday of September and March each financial year.
  • Eligibility: Be debt free with the Mackay Regional Council and have previously acquitted any previous Mackay Regional Council Grant satisfactorily. Please refer to Guidelines for full listing of Eligibility Criteria.

Infrastructure/Assets Grant

  • Overview: Aids in developing new or upgrading existing infrastructure/assets to contribute to a safe, creative, inclusive, cultural, healthy, and connected community.
  • Maximum grant amount: $30,000 (excluding GST)
  • Application deadlines: First Sunday of October and April each financial year.
  • Eligibility: Be debt free with the Mackay Regional Council and have previously acquitted any previous Mackay Regional Council Grant satisfactorily. Please refer to Guidelines for full listing of Eligibility Criteria.

Small Equipment Grant

This Grant Has Now Been Fully Expended for 2025/2026 and is Closed, Reopening July for 2026/2027.

  • Overview: Aids with the purchase of equipment to support local organisations or their volunteers.
  • Maximum grant amount: $1,500 (excluding GST)
  • Application deadlines: Budget is available each financial year until fully expended.
  • Eligibility: Have satisfactorily acquitted previous Mackay Regional Council small equipment grants. Must be a properly constituted not-for-profit organisation or sponsored by one, operating within Mackay Regional Council boundaries.

How to Apply

Pre-application Consultation

  • Contact the Community Programs team at 4961 9434 to discuss your application before you commence a submission.

Required Documents

  • Completed application form.
  • Detailed budget using the provided template.
  • Quotes:
    • One quote for items under $1,500
    • Two quotes for items between $1,501 and $14,999.
    • Three quotes for items over $15,000.
  • Consent letter from property owner/lessor for building improvements (if applicable).
  • Current financial statements.
  • Valid public liability certificate.

Submission Deadlines

  • Community Impact Grant: 11:59 PM on the first Friday of September and March.
  • Infrastructure/Assets Grant: 11:59 PM on the first Friday of October and April.
  • Small Equipment Grant: accepted all year or until budget is fully expended.
