Council is getting back to basics for Mackay, prioritising core services needed to support a sustainable, resilient future.
We’ve listened to the needs of the community. Council will deliver efficient operations as a priority.
Council is building a stronger, more sustainable Mackay region, with $127.4 million invested to renew critical infrastructure and build a stronger, more sustainable Mackay region. Almost 60 per cent funding essential renewals and upgrades of critical infrastructure for our community.
Levies have been consolidated into the general rate – simpler and fairer rates putting an average of $27 back in the pocket of residential ratepayers.
The average residential ratepayer will see an increase of $5.26 per week and council will provide continued support to residents through rates concessions.
We recognise household and business budgets are under pressure. The increase helps maintain essential services the community relies on every day, while council continues to review operating costs and focus spending on back-to-basics priorities such as roads, drainage, parks, waste, libraries and customer service.
