Council meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month commencing at 10am in Council Chambers, which is located on the first floor of the Sir Albert Abbott Administration Building, Gordon Street, Mackay.

Attending a council meeting
The Ordinary Meetings are open for public attendance (except when confidential matters are tabled and the meeting is closed for discussion as allowed by the provisions of the Local Government Act 2009).
You don’t need to register to attend a council meeting, but if you want to speak, you’ll need to complete the form below, noting the requirements of public participation and deputations.
Public Participation and Deputations
To attend a council meeting and raise a matter through presentation or deputation, you are required to submit a written request that includes your name, address, contact details and details of the council matter you wish to raise.
Do you wish to address an item on the agenda?
To attend a council meeting and address an item on the agenda, please complete the application below by the close of business the day before. Clearly note the agenda item to be addressed. If other matters are to be raised, your request must be submitted seven (7) days prior to the meeting and all sections of the application form must be completed.
Do you wish to raise a matter not listed on the agenda?
Council's Standing Orders require that all other avenues within council are to have been utilised already in furthering the matter before raising the matter through presentation or deputation at a council meeting. Details of the relevant council department's response are to be included in your request.
The request must be submitted at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting and you will receive a written response after your application has been assessed.

Residents may speak to an item on the agenda by contacting councillor.support@mackay.qld.gov.au or by presenting at council prior to the commencement of the council meeting.
