Community invited to discover Northern Beaches Community Hub vision
Published on 17 August 2026
Residents are invited to learn more about the Northern Beaches Community Hub and view the latest designs for the much-anticipated facility at a community presentation later this month.
The presentation will be held at Club Northern Beaches Mackay on Monday, August 31, from 6pm and will provide an overview of the project, including the unveiling of updated architectural illustrations and details about the hub's community facilities.
Mayor Greg Williamson said the presentation would give residents an opportunity to see how the hub was taking shape and learn more about the benefits it would provide to the growing Northern Beaches community.
"The Northern Beaches Community Hub is an important investment in one of the fastest-growing areas of our region," Mayor Williamson said.
"This facility has been designed to bring people together and provide modern, welcoming spaces where residents can connect, learn, access services and participate in community life," he said.
"The presentation is a chance for residents to see the latest designs, find out more about the project's progress and learn about the facilities that will be available when this stage is completed."
Located opposite Mackay Northern Beaches State High School between Rosewood Drive and Eimeo Road, the hub is being delivered in stages, with the multi-purpose court and nature play area already complete.
The next stage is now under way and will deliver a library, customer service facilities, nine flexible bookable community rooms and a café space.
Mayor Williamson said the nine community rooms would provide versatile spaces for a range of activities and events.
"These rooms have been designed to support community groups, businesses and service providers, giving them access to modern, flexible spaces that can be adapted to suit a variety of needs," he said.
"There will be spaces for everything from meetings, training sessions, workshops and events through to community group gatherings and even yoga or Pilates classes.
“There’s a robust room designed for art and craft activities like mosaics and clay workshop; there’s an acoustic workshop room designed for music activities and audio recording; and the largest room can hold 142 people.
"These nine rooms will play an important role in helping people come together, share ideas and deliver programs and activities that benefit our community."
The event will also coincide with the launch of the Northern Beaches Community Hub website at mackay.qld.gov.au/nbcHUB, where residents can access project information and updates.
Residents will also be able to speak with council representatives at a series of pop-up information stalls throughout September, including at Caneland Central, Northern Beaches Central, Mt Pleasant Central, the Seniors Expo and Party in the Park.
Mayor Williamson encouraged anyone interested in the project to subscribe to council's project update emails.
"We want the community to stay informed as the project progresses, so I encourage residents to sign up for project updates through Connecting Mackay," he said.
The Australian Government has contributed $6.5 million towards Stage 1A and $15 million through the Growing Regions Program Round 1 for Stage 1B of the Northern Beaches Community Hub.
The Growing Regions Program supports community-focused infrastructure that revitalises regional areas and improves local amenity and liveability.
Stages 1A and 1B of the Northern Beaches Community Hub are jointly funded by the Australian Government and Mackay Regional Council.
