Construction and development
Stage 1A of the Northern Beaches Community Hub – the first of four proposed stages – is complete.
This facility and future stages will help service the Northern Beaches, which is the fastest-growing community in our region.
Located opposite Mackay Northern Beaches State High School, between Rosewood Drive and Eimeo Road, the hub offers the community a welcoming meeting place.
An undercover multi-purpose court is available for residents to use, and sporting and community groups to book. The court has an adjoining kitchenette and amenities available.
The multi-purpose court has line marking for basketball, netball, futsal and pickleball.
To the south of the multi-purpose court is a nature play area ready to explore. Enjoy adventure play on the giant crocodile, tackle the climbing nets, play on the swings, slide and balance beam or step on the natural rocks in the dry creek bed. You might like to spend some time relaxing in the picnic shelters.
The next stage for the Northern Beaches Community Hub is a dynamic public facility that will include a library, flexible community rooms and café space.
Dust and noise are expected on-site during construction. Council appreciates your patience while the construction of Stage 1B is undertaken.

Traffic congestion in the Northern Beaches

The local roads leading to the facility and parking both within the facility and street parking provide for the community using the facility.
The Mackay Bucasia Road is a State Government managed road and Council has been advocating for funding for this road. Funding to ease congestion has been budgeted by the Queensland Government in 2025/26, you can read more about it here Mackay Whitsundays - Queensland Budget 2025-26
