The documents do not replace the provisions of Council's Planning Schemes and Policies, or State Legislations and should not be used without reference to these documents.
Minor Works Permit Policies and Guides
Development Services Minor Works Permit Applications
The following work types are assessed by Development Services and require the submission of a completed Minor Works Application (Development Services)(DOCX, 210KB) form:
- Bitumen Sealed Turnout / Shoulder
- Concrete Footpath
- Invert Crossing and Concrete Driveway
- Rural Access
- Stormwater Connection

The abovementioned work types, assessed by Development Services, can be lodged and the application fee paid via eApplications (Online Services).
Traffic and Investigations Minor Works Applications
The following work types are assessed by Traffic and Investigations and require the submission of a completed Minor Works Application (Transport & Drainage Infrastructure Planning)(PDF, 111KB) form:
- Alteration / Improvement to Roads
- Boat Mooring
- Gates and Grids on Roads
- Irrigation Pipes
- Landscaping Plan
- Temporary Road Closure
- Tracked Cane Harvesting Equipment Crossing
- Underground Utility Service Connection
- Use of Roads for Regulated Purposes
The above-mentioned work types, assessed by Traffic and Investigations, can be lodged via email to council@mackay.qld.gov.au.
Advertising Devices
Council's Subordinate Local Law No. 1.4 (Installation of Advertising Devices) 2011 ensures that the installation of advertising devices do not cause harm, nuisance or obstruction to the public and the surrounding environments.
A permit is required if you intend to erect, place or remove an advertising device, banner or notice on a building, road or footpath.
Complete the Advertising Device Application Form(DOCX, 208KB) and lodge it with via council’s Online Services Portal along with the relevant fee and supporting documentation.
