Top 10 things to do around the region

There is plenty to do around the region this week.. Celebrate International Women’s Day at the All About Women Satellite simulcast live in the MECC meeting rooms and the Zonta Mackay International Women’s Day Fundraiser luncheon. The region’s sparkling new Mackay ARC (Aquatic and Recreation Complex) is due to throw its gates open to the public this Saturday, March 9.

2) RADF Showcase

3) River Street Twilight Market

5) Mackay ARC Grand Opening

The region’s sparkling new Mackay ARC (Aquatic and Recreation Complex) is about to throw its gates open to the public. An official opening of the international-standard sporting complex will be held Saturday, March 9.  Entry is free and local athletics, swimming and sporting clubs will put on a day of demonstrations and come-and-try activities. Bring the family, try a new sport, check out the aquatic programs on offer, watch a few races, do some yoga or just have a cuppa while the kids get their faces painted and enjoy the jumping castle. 10) Exhibition: Foundations in Drawing

The Mackay region has many strong, creative women who have helped shape the vibrant and diverse artistic presence that thrives today. In promotion of Queensland Women's Week this exhibition highlights recent works by eleven local, women artists linked through their participation in drawing classes with Clem Forbes. Clem was a Mackay artist, gallerist, and art educator who in the early 80s was considered by many to be the main driving force behind visual arts in the community.

The group dominated British popular music in the late 1950s and early 1960s in the years before the Beatles.
