Publication scheme

Our publication scheme describes and categorises information routinely available. It has been developed to give the community greater access to information held by Mackay Regional Council.

Section 21 of the Right to Information Act 2009 requires council to have in place a Publication Scheme. The purpose of this Scheme is to present a consolidated, user-friendly and comprehensive overview of council's organisation, its relationship to the community and the various avenues for public access to council's processes.

Information has been grouped into the following seven information classes:

About council

(Who we are and what we do - background information on council and the Mackay region)

Our services

(The services that we offer - a description of what services are offered by council, including advice and guidance, booklets and leaflets, media releases)

Our finances

(What we spend and how we spend it - financial information relating to projected and actual income and expenditure, tendering, procurement and contracts);

Our priorities

(What our priorities are and how we are doing - council's strategic and performance documentations)

Our decisions

(How we make decisions - policy proposals and decisions, decisions making processes)

Our policies

(Our policies and procedures - the current written protocols for delivering our functions and responsibilities.)

Our lists

(Lists and registers - information held in registers required by law and other lists and registers relating to the functions of the agency).

Where possible, some of the documents on this site are available for you to download.  Some PDF versions of scanned documents may not be readable by accessibility devices such as screen readers.   If you are having difficulty accessing any of these documents, please contact council to make arrangements to have the information provided in a suitable format.

Information listed in our Publication Scheme is available free of charge from our website.

We will endeavour to meet all reasonable requests for documents in an alternative format (eg. hard copy or CD).  If you wish to access any of the information either by hard copy or on CD, fees may apply (25c per page for black and white photocopy or small fee for the CD).

Feedback and complaints

If you wish to provide feedback to improve our Publication Scheme or make a complaint about the information available, please contact council.

Council values your comments and any feedback. Any complaints will be managed in accordance with council's Administrative Action Complaints Handling Policy.
