Hiring a park
Many of the beautiful parks, reserves and foreshores in the Mackay region can be booked for weddings, naming ceremonies, birthday parties, family reunions or social, corporate and community events.
Depending on the type of event, the number of attendees and proposed setup, a park booking with council may be required.

In order to determine if you are required to make a booking with council, please refer to the below assessment:
Do I need to make a booking?
If you answered YES to any of the above questions, you will be required to submit a booking application with council. |
To submit an online application to council, please select the appropriate application form below:
- Commercial use, storage or construction access permit
- Community social event permit
- Personal trainers fitness permit
- Private social event or birthday party permit
- Wedding and naming ceremony permit
Once submitted, your application will be assessed and you will be advised of any applicable fees or bonds. If your application is approved, receipt of payment is due within 14 days to secure your booking, confirmation of your booking will be provided in writing and forwarded to your nominated postal or email address included on the application. No booking will be finalised until payment of any applicable fees or bonds is made in full.
If your selected area or nominated event date is unavailable, Parks Booking Administration will contact you directly to discuss other options

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and Queens Park

Greenmount Homestead (Park area only)

Mackay Regional Council Civic Precinct
If your enquiry relates to the Civic Precinct, which includes the MECC grounds, fountain area and Jubilee Park, please refer your enquiry directly to the MECC for more information.
Community Halls
If your enquiry relates to any of our Community Halls, please refer your enquiry directly to the applicable hall for more information
Other permits
If your event is a large event that includes entertainment, live music, animal activity, or food being sold to the public, you may be required to apply for additional permits with council’s Health & Regulatory Department.
