Strategic Advisory Committee

A Strategic Advisory Committee, which operated from March, 2018, was abolished in January, 2019.

Formed after four previous standing committees were abolished, it focused on the strategic vision of council’s Corporate Plan and met monthly, with any recommendations taken to the bi-monthly ordinary meetings of council.

It was abolished by council resolution as the majority of councillors felt it was not achieving the separate outcomes required.

As the membership of that committee was the full council, they believed the best use of resources and delivery of transparency was to bring any matters to ordinary meetings of council, which are open to the public.

Three sub-committee working groups – Regional Economy, Community Education and Environment, and Infrastructure and Performance, formed under the Strategic Advisory Committee, remain in place.

Directorate reports

Council previously operated four Standing Committees. With the move to twice monthly ordinary meetings, each directorate provides a monthly report to one of the two ordinary meetings.
