Emergency Liaison Officers

Volunteer to be a point of contact for emergency management during disasters

ELO logo

Emergency Liaison Officers (ELOs) are the “eyes and ears” for the Mackay Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) during a disaster.

ELOs live in parts of our region that are more remote or typically become isolated in disasters, such as flood and cyclones.

ELOs provide vital information to the LDMG on what is happening in their community before, during and after a disaster. They are usually those who know the people and places where they live and can act when they see an issue arise.

For more information of the role of an Emergency Liaison Officer, download the guidebook here.

Are you the right person for the job?

ELOs are volunteers who are community minded and reside permanently within the identified location.

They are familiar with the people in their community as well as the physical landscape of the area.

They are good communicators.

If this sounds like you, then fill out the Expression of Interest form and our Emergency Management Team will be in touch.
