Relaxation is the name of the game for Spring Picnic

Nothing says spring like a relaxing picnic on the grass under the shade of a majestic fig tree.

Throw in some old-fashioned children’s games, chilled-out live music, face painting and free-guided homestead tours, and you have all the ingredients for a memorable Greenmount Spring Picnic event.

The free event is on Sunday, October 13 from 9am to 1pm.

Cr Fran Mann said the Spring Picnic on the grounds of the beautiful Greenmount Homestead was one of a series of events aimed at bringing the community to the historic homestead.

“Our Greenmount After Dark tours have been an amazing success – we still have a waiting list for future tours – but we wanted something that was more accessible for young families,” Cr Mann said.

“The Spring Picnic is the perfect way to capitalise on the spacious grounds and relaxed country atmosphere,” she said.

“And we will be adding to that atmosphere with some laidback live music and great coffee and Devonshire teas.

“For the young, and the young-at-heart, there will be old-fashioned games and activities, like egg and spoon, sack, wheelbarrow and three-legged races, and face painting.”

Cr Mann said while organisers were encouraging visitors to bring a picnic and rug for an authentic picnic experience, there would be limited food vendors on site.

“Tea, coffee, ice creams, slushies, woodfired pizzas and cold drinks will be available,” she said.

Organisers are also encouraging residents to be sun smart by bringing sunscreen and wide brim hats.
