Community funding of $188,000 on offer

There's $188,000 up-for-grabs for community groups and not-for-profits in the Mackay region.

The latest round of council’s Community Grants is now open.

Cr Laurence Bonaventura, who chairs the Community Grants Committee, said the grants were flexible and allowed not-for-profits to access funds for where they were most needed and where they could be of the most benefit to the community.

He said groups could apply for any one of three separate grant categories.

“Small equipment grants of up to $1500 can be used to purchase equipment like computers, office equipment and kitchen appliances,” Cr Bonaventura said.

“Community Grants of up to $7500 have broader applications – they can fund everything from health and safety outcomes to programs, maintenance projects and even assist groups to establish new fundraising events,” he said.

“There are also grants of up to $30,000 on offer for minor infrastructure and assets.

“These can be used for infrastructure projects, including concept development, as well as the purchase of large equipment like vehicles.”
