1) Mission Songs Project by Jessie Lloyd

Mission Songs Project looks to explore the day to day life of the mission days, from cultural identity to love and loss. These unique songs consist of almost forgotten stories that can now shed light into the history of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait elders, families and communities. This musical journey of Indigenous Australian music as Jessie Lloyd connects the traditional with contemporary, revealing the continuation of cultural practice and song traditions into the 21st Century. 2) Book Sale

Gordon White Library are holding their first book sale in four years with thousands of excess books on sale for a fraction of their retail price. There’s a great range on offer, with everything from bestsellers to books on gardening, craft and cooking and all for just $1 each. Book sales are a wonderful, sustainable way that we can offer readers a great deal while also having a clean-up of our collections. Bargain-hunters are asked to bring their own bags and cash. 3) BMA Kidspace

Join local artists and performers for creative art activities designed for toddlers and their adults! BMA Kidspace, Artspace Mackay’s ever popular toddler’s program, gives children under five a chance to explore and have fun with art in a climate of co-operative learning. The program includes free artist-run workshops from 10am to 2pm and live musical entertainment for kids from noon to 1pm. Bring your children along for a fun day of art-making, singing and dancing.

Catherine Truman is one of South Australia’s most renowned artists and jewellers who works with a variety of diverse materials to create captivating and one-of-a-kind pieces. This JamFactory touring exhibition incorporates a mix of objects, installation, images, video and new works from her 20 years of research at the nexus of art and science. ‘Catherine Truman: No Surface Holds’ is the first time that Truman’s collaborative practice with artists and scientists is presented. 9) Gardens Captured – Lagoons Gallery Exhibition

Lagoons Gallery at the Botanic Gardens Café

This exhibition is a first for the Photo Walkabout Group. It showcases a selection of fantastic images captured within the gardens by participants during the Walkabouts. Photo Walkabouts started in April 2019 and have continued to grow in popularity. Supported by the Friends of the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and Mackay Camera Group. Participants range from beginners to advanced photographers using iPhone to DSLR cameras who are willing to share their knowledge or wanting to learn more in a practical, active and fun environment.
