Four palm trees to be removed in Mackay city

Published: 28 Jul 2021

Council will be removing four structurally unsafe palm trees this week.

Two will be removed from Caneland Park, opposite Caneland Central shopping centre, on Thursday, July 29, and two will be removed from a centre garden bed in front of Maguires Hotel on Wood Street on Friday, July 30.

The work will be carried out between the hours of 6am and 7am.

The trees are being removed in the interest of public safety as they have become structurally unsound and are a public health risk.

Motorists are asked to take care when driving around the work sites and follow the directions of all traffic signage.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these necessary removals.
