Stay informed on council projects

Several significant civil construction projects are being delivered across South, East and West Mackay.

Mayor Greg Williamson said while these projects delivered real improvements for our community, council understood that residents were experiencing disruptions.

South, East and West Mackay projects include:

  • East Mackay drainage improvements
  • Warland Street open drainage reconstruction
  • Juliet Street pavement rehabilitation
  • Milton and Archibald streets intersection upgrade
  • Nebo Road water main decommissioning
  • Paradise Street - Evan and George streets realignment
  • Sydney Street water main replacement (expected to start September 5)

“With such a wide spread of council civil works being delivered at the moment, coupled with the Mackay Northern Access Upgrade Project, our region has become a hive of construction activity,” Mayor Williamson said.

“But it’s good activity – once completed, we will have an improved transport network with safer roads as well as an increased drainage network that will reduce localised flooding,” he said.

“In the meantime, to make your travel that little bit easier around South, East and West Mackay, we’ve developed an interactive project map that highlights individual work zones.”

Visit the map at council’s online project portal and select which project you’d like to find more information about.

Details include an overview of works, timeframes, traffic changes and project contacts.

Mayor Williamson said the website is continually updated as projects progress, so residents are encouraged to check back regularly to stay informed with the latest information.
