Cancellations and closures in the region

Due to the wet weather around the region as a result of Tropical Cyclone Kirrily, a number of our council supported Aussie Day events have had to be cancelled or postponed.

There are still four community events planning to go ahead though, at this stage. More details at www.mackay.qld.gov.au/ausdayevents. Please visit the event organiser's Facebook pages for the latest updates in case there are any last minute changes.

Listed below are also details of council facilities closures.

Australia Day council events:

◾️ Australia Day Awards Gala this evening - cancelled
◾️ Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony (Friday, January 26) - postponed

Australia Day community events:

◾️ Aussie Day at Armstrong Beach - postponed
◾️ Aussie Day at Eimeo Beach – postponed
◾️ Aussie Day Mackay Beach Party (Mackay Surf Lifesaving Club) – postponed
◾️ Aussie Day at Grasstree Beach – postponed
◾️ Australia Day Scouts Open Day – postponed
◾️ Australia Day the Habana Way – postponed
◾️ Eungella Crass Roots BBQ – postponed
◾️ Go OZ with Lawn Bowls (Mackay Bowling Club) – postponed
◾️Mackay Contract Bridge Club Open Day  - continuing
◾️Sarina Bowls Club-Inc Social Aussie Day event - continuing
◾️ Seaforth Aussie Day event (Seaforth Bowls Club)  - continuing
◾️ St Helens Beach Australia Day celebrations – postponed


Council facilities closures:

◾️Sarina Sugar Shed - closed today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday). Visit their Facebook page for updates regarding reopening on the weekend.
◾️Mackay Regional Council Libraries - will close today at 4pm. Mirani Library is closed.
◾️Bluewater Lagoon Mackay - closed today. Visit their Facebook page for updates.
◾️ Gargett Transfer Station - closed due to a fire on the premises. To reopen Saturday (January 27), subject to the weather (https://bit.ly/3vO4wKF)
