Car crash affects water supply at Walkerston

Published: 11 Jul 2023

Walkerston residents are being asked to reduce their water consumption following a serious vehicle crash on the Peak Downs Highway this morning (Tuesday, July 11).

The vehicle crashed into the water pump station, located opposite the Walkerston cemetery, causing damage to the building.

Water Services are not able to fill the reservoir due to the station being out of action, leaving the reservoir as the only water source for the town.

This may cause low water pressure later today as the level in the reservoir reduces. Until further notice, residents are asked to only use internal household water to assist council to manage this issue.

Council is working to structurally assess the building before the vehicle can be removed. Power is off and chlorine on site has been made safe.
