Exciting announcement as BMA Kidspace hits the road

Artspace Mackay and BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) are bringing free Christmas art and music to young families in the Pioneer Valley.

North Eton CWA Hall will play host to the free Christmas BMA Kidspace drop-in program for toddlers and their adults on Tuesday, December 5, from 10am to 2pm.

BMA Kidspace is the gallery’s popular children’s program that gives children up to five years old the opportunity to explore and have fun with art with the guidance of some skilled local artists.

Artspace Director Tracey Heathwood said, with Artspace Mackay being closed for renovations, the team had decided to take the program to a regional location.

“The residents of North Eton are really excited to have BMA Kidspace in their area and I’m sure there will be plenty of local families making the most of it,” Ms Heathwood said.

“We are hoping to see families from all over the Pioneer Valley at the hall for the drop-in activities, which also includes live music and a visit from Santa,” she said.

The Christmas BMA Kidspace will have two sessions – 10am to 11.45am and then 12.30pm to 2pm.  There will be live music and a visit from Santa from 11.45am to 12.30pm.

Mayor Greg Williamson said the special BMA Kidspace Christmas event was timely, as BMA and Artspace Mackay had just renewed a partnership that would see BMA continue to support the popular program for another five years.

“Council is very appreciative of the support provided by BMA,” Mayor Williamson said.

“BMA Kidspace is one of those programs that has a big impact on children at a very young age,” he said.

“It helps to foster a love of art, craft and creativity by creating a supportive and fun environment.

“Families make some great memories and kids are able to let their creativity run wild.”

Linda Murry, General Manager of BMA’s Hay Point Coal Terminal, said BMA was proud of its decade-long support of the BMA Kidspace program and looked forward to continuing to partner with council to deliver this popular toddler program for families in the Mackay region.

“Supporting BMA Kidspace is another great way to contribute to the region’s liveability, and allows our team members with young families to get involved with the local community in a fun and friendly environment,” Ms Murry said.
