Festive season begins in the City Centre

The festive season has begun, and Christmas shopping is at the top of everyone’s mind.

To help support Mackay’s City Centre businesses during their busiest time of year, motorists are being reminded that parking limits in the City Centre must be followed.

The limits ensure that there are car parks available within a short walk for customers who want to support local business operators in the City Centre.

If motorists require long-term or all-day parking, they are being encouraged to use one of the four off-street paid car parks in the City Centre or any of the free non-timed car parks located just outside the City Centre limits.

Council’s Local Laws team will be monitoring the City Centre area over the festive season to ensure the parking limits are being followed.

If you would like to support local businesses in the City Centre, mark the City Heart Christmas event in your diary, which is being held this Friday, December 2, from 4pm to 7pm in Fifth Lane.

There will be late night shopping, live music, face painting, roving performers and carollers, plus much more.
