Libraries provide free one-on-one study help

This free online service for students from Year 3 to Year 12 and early Uni or TAFE is accessible from council’s website.

A large increase in demand for the service is expected after the Federal Government announced that in Term 2 2020, school will happen mostly online.

Community and Client Services director Angela Hays said with many local families looking for online resources and support for learning, Studiosity was an amazing free service.

“Mackay Regional Council Libraries have offered Studiosity since 2019 as a way to provide online help with homework and study from qualified teachers, professional tutors and university specialists,” Ms Hays said.

“It’s available 24 hours a day, although we are finding that students get online between 4pm and 11pm, with Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays the busiest days,” she said.

The Library’s Studiosity service is already seeing an increased demand for its one-on-one sessions in maths, science, business, English and writing.

As the term progresses, the ability for students to get feedback on their essays, speeches, short stories, business letters and resumes will also be invaluable.

Studiosity offers 24/7 online chat to ask a study question any time a student is stuck or needs extra help.

Students can send their assignment through for feedback before it is handed in for marking.

Residents can also use Studiosity for help with a resume, job application and interview tips, speech writing and public speaking.
