Platypus Beach latest results show little change

Published: 26 Feb 2021

Ongoing water testing at Platypus Beach shows little change to initial results.

The results continue to show moderate levels of E.coli and Intestinal Enterococci.

Council recommends that members of the public don’t swim in the area.

Anyone swimming in the area does so at their own risk.

Water data gathered over the past two weeks will help to inform a Recreational Management Plan for the site.

The plan which is currently being prepared will outline an approach on how to best manage the site into the future.

Platypus Beach is a natural watercourse where water quality can fluctuate.

Managing recreational use on a natural waterway is largely outside of council’s control due to external factors such as environment, rainfall and fauna.
