Come and learn first-hand how council’s Make Your Place Mackay Waterfront Placemaking Grants can support your project.

The Mackay City and Waterfront team will host a series of community briefings on Tuesday, November 29, at the Aligned Corporate Residences in Macalister Street.

Mayor Greg Williamson said the Make Your Place Mackay Waterfront Placemaking Grants would support projects and activities that connect the local community, and create places people want to go to or be in.

“The grant program will help people create and deliver inspiring, inclusive and vibrant projects in public spaces, helping people to become more active and involved in their community,” Mayor Williamson said.

“We are inviting anyone considering applying for a grant to come along and talk to our team about how we can help you bring your ideas to life,” he said.

The Make your Place Mackay Waterfront Placemaking grant aims to:

  • Connect the local community, residents and/or businesses
  • Improve physical health, mental wellbeing, and community cohesion
  • Test new concepts, trial emerging ideas and be innovative
  • Celebrate and promote art, culture(s), creativity and/or local history
  • Reimagine and reinvent everyday public spaces.

The sessions are running on Tuesday at 7.15am, 8am, 11am, 12pm and 5.15pm. Bookings are not required, just pop in at any time.

Applications for a Placemaking Grant are open now until 5pm, Wednesday, January 18, 2023, and can be submitted online.
