Basil - Sweet (Ocimum basilicum)

Italian large leaf, aromatic, popular culinary herb. Annual to 90cm. Native to sub-tropics. Repels flies and mosquitos. An excellent growing and culinary companion to tomatoes. Warm sunny position. Spring and summer planting.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)

Evergreen to 30cm. Fine flavoured culinary herb. Use in vinegar as well as with meat, fish and soups. Deters cabbage moth, attracts bees. Likes dry sunny spot.

Coriander - Mexican Coriander (Erynguim foetidum)

Flavour of leaf coriander, also known as spring coriander. Perennial, tasty thick leaves, can be sliced and used in cooking. Also dries well and retains flavour and colour. Shade loving plant. Sow spring (after frost) and summer. Slow to germinate.

Dill (Anethum graveolens)

Aromatic culinary herb. Annual to 90cm. Stem is hollow with white and green stripes. Seeds are sweet and used in reducing appetite. Good source of potassium, sodium, sulphur and phosphorous. Sunny position. Sow spring to autumn.

Parsley (Petroselinum crispum)

Most used and valuable herb. Vitamins A, B and C. Organic source of iron and potassium. Good for kidneys. Biennial likes partial shade. Keep seeds moist, slow germination. Sow spring, autumn.

Nasturtium - Trailing Mix (Tropaeolum majus)

Hardy annual with edible flower. Suited to boarders, rockeries and hanging baskets. Tolerates wide range of soils and dry conditions. Full sun or part shade.

Snow pea – Oregon Giant (Pisum sativum)

Sweet winter vegetable. Grows on wide variety of soils, keep soil well drained as it declines if waterlogged. Benefits from support, climbing snow peas have a higher yield. Regular picking also encourages higher production. Water at near to the roots not the leaves.

Radish – French Breakfast (Raphanus sativus)

Edible root vegetable that can vary greatly in size, shape, flavour and even colour. Can grow all year but they do prefer the cooler months. Radish’s can be grown in rows, spaces between other vegetables and even suitable in containers but keep well-watered in the containers. Great for children to grow as a first crop, French Breakfast has a milder flavour.
