Dudley Denny City Library
A modern, centrally-located, hi-tech library
Now open, the Dudley Denny City Library has a layout that is both open-plan and packed with features. Not only is there 30 percent more space than the old City Library, this facility boasts the latest technological innovations designed to bring our community into the hi-tech future. From big screens to interactive floor projectors, laptop vending machines to collaborative media screens that talk to mobile devices, a 3D printer, the latest in gaming systems and even a “smart” shelf that checks books in by itself – this library has it all and much more.
The Dudley Denny City Library also hosts an impressive array of robotic teaching aids, including the humanoid robot Pepper which can often be found conversing with clients near the front door or in the children’s or young adult’s areas.
Both of those areas have been designed with extensive consultation from the target groups. The young adult area is spacious and comfortable and has digital entertainment, including gaming systems. The children’s space is colourful, interactive and has plenty of sensory elements. The elevated reading pod, for example, is a real standout.
While centrally located in our picturesque City Centre, the Dudley Denny City Library offers plenty of space and tranquil greenery thanks to an outdoor terrace with over 300m2 of covered decking. This area features activity and program spaces surrounded by lush, tropical plantings and a nature-based sensory recreation zone for relaxation and play.
While the new library is a state-of-the-art, hi-tech facility, the past is never forgotten. The City Library’s Heritage Collection is housed in the new facility in a purpose-built, climate-controlled room.
Other features of the new library include:
- Meeting rooms with C-Bus technology
- State-of-the-art news lounge
- Easy access with lift and escalators
- Reading nooks
- Parent room with change table
- Roof-mounted floor projector
- An interactive table top
More than 60 designated car parks including accessible parks for The Dome complex are located on the corner of Gregory and River Streets. The first 3 hours of parking are free for The Dome customers in The Dome car park.
