Mackay Regional Council supports procurement and tendering opportunities for contractors, suppliers and consultants. Selling your product or service to local government can be a good way to grow your business. Council follows internal procurement guidelines to purchase goods or to engage the services of a contractor, supplier or consultant. The following outlines council’s procurement and tender opportunities, policies and procedures.

Current Tenders

Council utilises the Queensland Government QTenders website, an online tendering resource, to promote and publish all its tenders and to provide a secure platform to receive responses from respondents.

MRC2024043	Petrie Street Culvert	This project is for works at Petrie Street Main Drain in East Mackay: replacement of the floodgates at the Petrie Street culvert crossing; installation of a new trash rack and maintenance ramp in the southeast main drain upstream; and various civil Works as per the project specific Drawings. Petrie Street is located in East Mackay and connects Far Beach to the Mackay urban area and is a Minor Collector under Mackay Regional Council (Council) Road Hierarchy Strategy. MRC2024047	Kanes Road Culvert Replacement	This project is for the construction of a temporary side track and replacement of a major culvert within the Mackay Regional Council area. This major culvert asset is located on Kanes Road in Owens Creek and forms part of the only road access into the area which services seven properties. MRC2024045	Bushlands Maintenance	This contract calls for a suitably qualified Contractor to provide scheduled maintenance of 17 Natural Area Assets located throughout the Mackay Local Government Area as nominated below in Table 1. These assets, which may be a recreational park or reserve for environmental or other public purpose, feature remnant areas of bushland, riparian or coastal foreshore and estuarine vegetation. MRC2024046	Stormwater Quality Improvement Device Maintenance	This contract is for the Services of a suitably qualified Contractor to provide scheduled maintenance of: 32 x Stormwater Quality Improvement Devices (SQID) including Bio-Retention Basins and Constructed Wetlands; and 4 x Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) features where drainage infrastructure (e.g. stormwater swale or channel) has been modified and planted using native vegetation to replicate the appearance and to a limited extent the function of a natural waterway. The upcoming tenders / quotation list of projects provides an overview of future opportunities in working with council. Please note this is subject to change pending council’s priorities. Council does not guarantee that all of the tenders/quotes listed will proceed and reserves the right to alter or cancel any of the listed projects at its discretion. Projects listed can be issued as either a tender or quotation.

Projects released as tenders will be issued via Qtender, please register with QTender and monitor for the tender’s release.

Projects that are to be released as Quotations may be issued via Council’s Panel arrangements or via Local Buy.

Under the Local Government Regulations 2012 s237, details of all awarded contractual agreements over the value of $200,000 must be published. Details can be viewed by following the link below or alternatively are available on the public noticeboard located in the foyer of council’s administration building, Gordon Street.

Local Government Association of Queensland - Local Buy

Local Buy is the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) procurement services company.

Local Buy develops contractual arrangements for use by Queensland councils and government entities, eliminating the need for government authorities to establish their own supply contracts. A contract established by Local Buy enables councils and government entities to purchase a diverse range of goods and services from Local Buy contractors.

Supplier information

The terms of business govern the purchase of goods and/or services by council. These are the terms of business referred to in council’s purchase orders and apply to any contract entered into by council and a supplier, unless other terms and conditions are specifically agreed at time of contract award. By accepting to supply the items described in a council purchase order, suppliers agree to be bound by and accept these terms and conditions.
